Hong Kong Tennis Champions Cup in association with Auto Sportiva Ltd.

Since the creation of The Clearwater Indoor Doubles Classic 5 years ago, the ever expanding event now becomes The Hong Kong Tennis Champions Cup, showcasing Hong Kong's top tennis players for a total prize purse of HK$270,000. The main attraction - the Men's Singles and Doubles event is joined with a Parent and Child component along with a Ladies' Doubles Challenge in which we invite you to be a part of. Join us by participating in this very exciting tennis event!

THE CLEARWATER BAY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB ANNOUNCES THE HONG KONG TENNIS CHAMPIONS CUP 2009 FROM 12TH JANUARY TO 18TH JANUARY

Community Outreach Programme for Caring Community

Hong Kong Tennis Champions Cup 2009, hosted by The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club "CWBGCC", will be held from 12th to 18th January 2009. There will be total of four categories for this Champions Cup including Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Ladies' Doubles Challenge and Parent & Child Doubles. While Men's Singles players are drawn from the winners of the top three tournaments and top-ranked players, Men's Doubles are invitational. On the other hand, Ladies' Doubles Challenge and Parent & Child Doubles will be open to public to encourage more tennis enthusiasts from all ages to participate in this yearly event.

On 10 December, the CWBGCC announced details of the HK Tennis Champions Cup and the confirmed players of upcoming matches for Men's Singles and Men's Doubles. The highlight of the Champions Cup is the Men's Singles with Hong Kong's top-ranked players hitting centre court. The CWBGCC has invited players including: Yu Hiu Tung, HK Tennis Champions Cup Singles Champion 2008, Phillip King, top ranked junior in the US in 1999 and has a career high ATP ranking of 286 in 2000. Goran Bosalevski, SCAA Champion 2008, Michael Lai, 1st runner up in SCAA 2008 and also local star Wayne Wong. The Men's Doubles will also be an exciting event with last year's champions Henry So and Rong Ma battling for the title against Andrew Town and Adrian Montesinos (1st runner up of HK Tennis Champions Cup 2008 Men's Doubles Champions), Stephen So, former HK doubles ranking of 1, Jason Lijewski and Sean Cooper, SCAA Open Doubles Champion 2008 and Hong Kong's top-ranked players Jonathan Chu (former ATP player) and Brian Hung (ex HK Davis Cup player).

To enhance the attractiveness of this Champions Cup and to encourage more tennis enthusiasts to participate, CWBGCC will offer a total prize purse of HKD 270,000. Special thanks to the full support of our sponsors including this year's title sponsor, Auto Sportiva Limited (Alfa Romeo & Fiat). Other sponsors are Li Ning Co., Ltd, Toshiba (Hong Kong) Ltd, Wilson, and Deep Water etc.

This year's event involves many charitable donations where all proceeds received from raffle ticket sales, charity fundraising dinner and entry fees from the Ladies' Doubles Challenge will be donated to Haven of Hope Christian Service to provide free cataract surgery to the underprivileged elderly. Proceeds from Parent & Child Doubles will go towards Hong Kong Tennis Association for junior development. In addition, CWBGCC is pleased to partner with The Chinese Athletes Educational Foundation, initiated by renowned Chinese gymnast and entrepreneur, Li Ning, to donate additional HK$ 100,000 to Haven of Hope Christian Service. This year's Champions Cup will surely mark another milestone in the local tennis history.

Since 2003, CWBGCC has been running Community Outreach Programme by providing facilities, services, funds and support for charities working for everything from youth education, elderly wellbeing, emergency relief, environmental protection, and the plight of poorer people across the world. By now, the initiative has raised more than $2.5 million for various causes to benefit the society.

Both Ladies' Doubles Challenge and Parent & Child Doubles are now available for enrollment. Application forms can be downloaded from www.cwbgolf.org. Application deadline is 2nd January, 2009.
